TVS Motor Company announced the availability of its 2009 Flame model in the market under the brand TVS Flame SR 125. The new commuter motorcycle is loaded with a host of exciting features that has been further enhanced to delight its customers.
According to H S Goindi, President Marketing - TVS Motor Company, "The TVS Flame SR125 comes with significantly enhanced low and mid range power delivery and better noise, vibration and handling (NVH) characteristics. The revolutionary Controlled Combustion Variable Timing Intelligent (CC-VTi) technology provides an advantageous combination of power and mileage backed by stunning looks."
TVS Flame SR 125's well proven engine is propelled by a three valve, CC-VTi technology which ensures better pickup with optimum mileage and power. Developed with AVL Austria, this 125 cc, three valve engine is tuned to the ideal tumble-swirl port combination such that city riding on this machine is really smooth and comfortable. The engine's hi-tumble reduces the need for constant gear shifting while the swirl port returns optimum mileage. The TVS Flame SR 125 is equipped with an electric start, weighs about 123 kgs and fires a single spark plug. The bike has a top speed at 95 kmph and churns out 10.5 bhp @ 7500 rpm.

The 240 mm front disc brakes are complemented with a chic triangular exhaust that is not only unique but also enhances performance and delivers the smoothest of sounds and low emissions. The bike flaunts an elegant backlit digital console that prominently displays the first of its kind intelligent mileage indicator (IMI), low fuel warning and service indicator. The rear end of the bike sports a dual lens tail lamp that is first in its class. TVS Flame SR 125 is the only Indian motorcycle to be equipped with a gadget boot which provides the facility of on-tank storage.
"The disc brake version is priced at 47,550/- ex-showroom comes in dual tone colours of red and blue along with an all black edition and is available at all TVS dealerships across the country. However, for those not wanting in the disc brake, the bike is also available with drum brakes." Goindi said.

The Maruti Grand Vitara is expected to be priced higher than the existing model worth Rs 14 lakh well-known as GV 2.4 in India, is pitted against Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero and Outlander, as well as the yet-to-be launched Skoda Yeti and Toyota Fortuner.

Yamaha India launches its all-new 150cc Fazer sporty bike at a price of Rs 72,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

BMW Mini Hatchback
BMW, the world's largest premium car manufacturer is all set to launch the mini, three door luxury hatchback in India. The plans have been delayed from 2007 according to a senior official. The BMW Mini is set to be imported and would carry a hefty price tag of 2 million rupees.
Speaking about the proposed launch, the president of BMW India unit told reporters "Last year we decided to postpone the launch of Mini in India by a year, as we had doubts regarding the viability of the project. We would again take a look at it by the end of the third quarter of the calendar year".
The luxury hatchback market was not well developed in India and the investments would be substantial. He said "So we have to re-look at the potential business opportunity before launching it".
Kronschnabl said "BMW sold 1,747 BMWs in the first half of 2009, about a quarter of total Indian luxury car sales of 7,400, and its sales growth of 12 percent was better than the sector's 1.5 percent". He added "We are confident of delivering 3,000 cars to our customers in India in the year 2009."
BMW has increased the annual capacity at its Indian plant from 1,700 to 3,000 units. This was carried out on a single-shift basis at the cost of $750,000. BMW competes with European auto giants like DaimlerChrysler and Volkswagen. It makes the BMW 3 series and BMW 5 series in India and the BMW 7 series is sold by means of imported kits.
As talks about the German car maker being close to signing the agreement with global manufacturers were doing the rounds, Kronschnabl said "All I can say at this moment is that, we are very close to signing contracts with the global manufactures and it should be in place by December 2009."
BMW India has a slew of launches slated for 2009 like the new BMW 3 series, BMW 7 series, and diesel variant of BMW X3. In order to strengthen the dealership network of which presently there are thirteen, BMW will set up new dealerships in ten more cities by the end of 2010. $30 million is the investment it has made for the Indian market including the plant that was set up in Chennai.

Bajaj Pulsar 220CC
Decades after Herbert James 'Burt' Munro, the "world's fastest Indian" set the standards high, for world speed records; two wheeler makers are close on the heels to reset new records in speed. Bajaj launched Bajaj Pulsar 220cc bike. The 2009 Pulsar is capable of 144 kph top speed. New Pulsar was the fastest production bike in India.
This status was however short lived as Yamaha Motor launched the Daytona racing kit for its Yamaha YZF-R15, which was the fastest production bike here before Bajaj's Pulsar 220cc 2009 edition. It was developed by Yamaha Engineering Corporation and Daytona in Japan. The kit has promised to push up the top whack of the 150cc R15 to 150 kph. "Bajaj's claim lasted for only four days," said a Yamaha official with an ironic grin.
Two wheeler manufactures are trying their best to showcase the best they have in the two wheeler segment. India's third largest two wheeler maker, TVS Motors launched a bigger variant of its premium bike, the TVS Apache RTR.

Based on the earlier 160cc RTR, the new TVS Apache got a capacity upgrade to 180cc as a result of which its acceleration and top speed went up significantly. "But more than top speed, in this country, acceleration is more meaningful to buyers. They can at least feel it."

For two decades, he tinkered with it and later travelled to Bonneville in the US with a determination to set world speed records. At one of the records he set, he still remains undefeated.

Speaking about the proposed re entry, a senior official said, "The Company is studying India's high-end and premium motorcycle market to introduce its Motorrad range of super bikes in India". Peter Kronschnabl, president, BMW India added "Our people from BMW Motorcycle are having a look at the market. They are also in discussion with us for feedback on the matter. As soon as we see potential for a viable market entry for sustainable growth, we would take that into consideration."
Another BMW official said that the Motorrad bikes range will cost more than Rs. 10 lakh in India. The premium bike market is less than 500 units a year but is definitely good as far as branding and growth prospectus is concerned. The earlier joint venture with Hero; which took off with the launch of F650 failed to click.
Auto analysts say the market for top superbike models such as the Suzuki Hayabusa, Honda 1000RR Fireblade, Honda CBR 1000R, Yamaha MT01 and Yamaha R1 has grown and enhanced the appetite for Rs 10 lakh plus bikes. Besides, Bajaj has plans to launch big bikes from KTM and Kawasaki stables in the near future.

Each container has up to 15 bikes and we are ordering new containers of bikes ever 1-2 months". He added that the company intends to sell 100 more high-end bikes costing up to Rs 12.5 lakh by the end of current fiscal.

The Italian auto giant Fiat and Tata Motors are in talk for a joint marketing project, to sell Ferrari and Maserati cars in India. In addition to this, they are working on further co-operation to add to the existing projects such as partnership to manufacture engines in India.
Mr. Tata, who is also the Fiat director, told Italian Daily, La Stampa, "We have various projects, to take the Nano to Latin America together, to share platforms for new cars, we have projects for (Fiat lorry unit) Iveco and marketing Ferraris and Maseratis. We are talking about a lot of things."
Ferrari and Maserati are both renowned brands that are in Fiat's control. Tata Motors forayed in the luxury car business after acquiring the British brands Jaguar and Land Rover for $2.3 billion from the US automaker Ford last year.
On the other hand, Fiat and Tata are considering the Tata Nano, the world's cheapest car to be sold in Latin America, where Fiat has a strong presence. Brazil is Fiat's second-biggest market after Italy.
Tata Motor's small car, the Tata Nano has hit the roads this month and it is planning to export the car to Europe, South America and Southeast Asia. Mr. Tata said "The Nano passed the European 'crash test' safety standard on Friday, allowing it to be sold in the Europe market and a launch is foreseen at the end of 2011."

Hyundai i10 Diesel Car 2010
Encouraged by the great response received for the petrol version of i10, Hyundai is moving a step ahead with the launch of a diesel variant Hyundai i10; reported CNBC-TV 18. Hyundai i10 diesel will be fitted with a 1.1 L CRDi engine which is likely to offer improved fuel efficiency and improved drivability due to the engine's higher torque output as compared to the petrol version.
The launch will qualify the company for small car excise norms and each car's transmission will be constructed in the Chennai plant. The engine would be sourced from its parent company in South Korea. The official company spokesperson declined to comment on the details.
Hyundai has a market share slightly more than 20% in the passenger cars segment in India and is likely to improve it to 25% by 2012. In a bid to expand the existing portfolio it is looking at launching new products. It was earlier reported that Hyundai Motor India Ltd would set up its existing car manufacturing plant at Sriperumbudur near Chennai in Tamil Nadu.
'Live Mint' newspaper, quoted an anonymous source and claimed that the Indian arm of the Korean automaker is likely to invest at least Rs. 500 crore to construct a factory that would have an installed capacity to manufacture around 100,000 engines. This complied with India's second largest passenger carmaker's aim to manufacture diesel variants of its existing models like Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20 in the country and save the car's cost by around 15-20%.
At present, the Indian arm of the Korean automaker has a petrol engine plant which makes Kappa and Gamma engine strapped onto models like the Hyundai i10 city (Kappa version) car and Hyundai i20 super-hatch. The engine was developed at a cost of over US$ 400 million.

'Live Mint' newspaper, quoted an anonymous source and claimed that the Indian arm of the Korean automaker is likely to invest at least Rs. 500 crore to construct a factory that would have an installed capacity to manufacture around 100,000 engines. This complied with India's second largest passenger carmaker's aim to manufacture diesel variants of its existing models like Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20 in the country and save the car's cost by around 15-20%.
At present, the Indian arm of the Korean automaker has a petrol engine plant which makes Kappa and Gamma engine strapped onto models like the Hyundai i10 city (Kappa version) car and Hyundai i20 super-hatch. The engine was developed at a cost of over US$ 400 million.

TVS to 100cc Bike
TVS India in order to compete and make its position in the scooter segment is all set to launch a 100cc scooter from its Hosur facility near Bangalore, though the timeline has not been fixed.
Sources claim that TVS Bikes is reportedly considering a gearless scooter and will co-exist with the other two scooters - TVS Scooty Pep and TVS Scooty Streak which have engine displacement below 100cc at the moment.
The third largest two-wheeler maker of the India, TVS Motors Company has already taken a step ahead in improving its motorcycles portfolio in the TVS Apache RTR 180 in the premium segment and the 2009 model TVS Flame SR 125 in the executive segment and is yet continuing without resting. New accents at the front and rear contribute to even more elegant styling and visual impact. New single-frame radiator grill in high gloss black with vertical chrome bars adds robustness to the car in conjunction with new Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights. The new Audi Q7 also comes with optional high-end headlight version that integrates not only a low beam, high beam, and turning and cornering lights, but for the first time also a special superhighway beam. The restyled tailgate presents a more forceful contour. LEDs are standard equipment in the taillights. An aluminum exterior package adds further highlights to the styling. The S line exterior package is designed for sports-minded customers and is available as an optional equipment.

Suzuki GSX-R 1000cc Superbike
Suzuki Motorcycle India is planning to enter the new segment of bikes, with entry level motorcycles and is also panning to introduce the new Suzuki GSX-R 1000cc super bike well-known as Gixxer.
The Indian counterpart of Japanese giant Suzuki feels that the entry level motorcycles is the highest selling segment, which includes the bikes in the 75cc to 125cc range. The entry level segment is ruled by the motorcycle company Hero Honda with 80% of the market share. Now, Suzuki India will launch an entry-level motorcycle in the next year to compete with the Hero Honda.
As per the recent updates, the Suzuki has recently invested Rs 150 crore on top of its previous investment for the expansion plans and new launches.
Moreover, the Suzuki is also planning to import its 1000cc GSX-R as completely built units (CBU's). Suzuki already has two other modes running in the segment Hayabusa and Intruder. Suzuki has also increased its production capacity to cope up with the increasing demand of the bikes.
Suzuki has seen a good increase in the sales number as well in comparison to last year sales.
